After 14 years of serving our beekeeping community...
Maryland Honey Company (aka "Jim Fraser's Shop") is closing at the end of October 2025. (The good news is that Jim is NOT leaving the area).
We are sad, but we are not willing to let it go without a party!
The Board of Directors of the Montgomery County Beekeepers Association invites fellow beekeepers and Jim's other admirers to gather on November 1st to says thanks to Jim Fraser for providing a place to not only buy beekeeping equipment, but to also get expert advice, and meet our fellow beeks.

Very sad to hear that the Maryland Honey Company is closing. Feels like an era is ending. Anthony and I would drive to the store on Sundays, and Jim was always a welcome sight and helpful. He was patient when we asked questions, especially as new beekeepers. His advice was always spot on. His wry sense of humor made us chuckle. His enthusiasm and love for beekeeping was infectious and palpable. Importantly, he was our in-person “connection” to MCBA, and beekeeping. It won’t be the same!!!
All good things come to an end as they say. I will fondly remember my trips to the Maryland Honey Company, sometime more to seek advice than to buy stuff! You’ve been a tremendous asset to the industry Jim and a true friend to many. Ryan and I look forward to many more years of friendship and camaraderie as we know you’re not going anywhere! At least not yet. So sorry I will miss the party. We will be in Greece at that time but will definitely drink an ouzo in your honor.
“HOW ARE YOUR BEES?” That is what Jim would ask every beekeeper that walked into his shop. While going to “Jim’s” to get equipment, what I was really going for was a listening ear, helpful suggestions and sound advice. Thank you very much Jim for your help throughout the past several years and all the best to you and your family as you start a new chapter.
