How to BECOME an E.A.S. MASTER BEEKEEPER

"Master Beekeeper" is a prestigious certification that officially confirms a person's high level of beekeeping knowledge and skill. Several associations have certification programs. The Eastern Apicultural Society's certification requires passing four tests: Written, Oral, Lab and Field exams. Studying for these tests might seem daunting, but MCBA's September guest speaker, Allen Hayes, will show you how in his talk "EAS Master Beekeeper Certification, You Can Get There From Here".

BIO

ALLEN HAYES became an instant beekeeper in 1971 when a family friend gave him a hive. Always one to make or fix things, beekeeping fit in well with his mechanical ability. Known to many as “The Gadget Guy,” he has created numerous items related to beekeeping and he enjoys sharing his inventions with others. His presentation, “Gadgets You Could Keep Bees Without, But Won’t Want To,” is a favorite up and down the East Coast.

Allen is an EAS certified Master Beekeeper who has taught beekeeping classes for more than ten years. A lifelong resident of Central Maryland, he is an active member of two local bee clubs and the current President of the Maryland State Beekeepers Association.
