Phil Frank will demonstrate how to setup and use our club's infrared camera to do a winter exam.

  • Is there is a cluster?
  • How big is the cluster?
  • Where is it located?

Knowing these things will help determine the health of a colony and if it needs winter feeding.

The MCBA Apiary is located at Brookside Nature Center – up the hill behind the Nature Center. Bring a flashlight to avoid tripping over tree roots and rocks. It is not necessary to wear a veil.

SCAN YOUR OWN HIVES:

Our club lends it's infrared camera to members. It is an attachment that works with Android devices only. If you have access to an Android phone or tablet, learn how to borrow it by going to the "Membership" tab at the top of this page and selecting "How to borrow the FLIR camera." (FLIR is the brand name of the club's camera)
