PLACE: Brookside Nature Center (click for directions)
TIME: Noon till 4PM
MCBA Volunteers will provide:
- LIVE Hive Demonstrations at 1PM and 3PM
- LIVE Honey Extraction Demos!
- Tours of our bee yard, behind the nature center!
- FRESH HONEY for sale from their own hives!
- Mead Making!
- Indoor Observation Hive to watch busy honey bees up close! (behind glass!)
NOTES TO MCBA:
- If you can volunteer to help with this event, please contact MCBA President Leon Vandenberg.
- Members can sell their own honey (or other products of the hive) in the Brookside Nature Center meeting room. Honey jars, labels, and prices must follow the same rules used for the Montgomery County Fair. Beekeepers keep 90% of their own proceeds, and 10% goes to supporting MCBA. MCBA will handle both cash and credit card sales, and will send members their net sales within two weeks.
- Jamie and her husband will be making mead at this festival. For each pound of honey you donate to them, you'll get two, 12 oz. bottles of mead. If interested, contact Jamie in advance
Looks like fun. We will also be dong honey extraction demos in the Nature Center. Maureen
