E.A.S. Grants for MCBA Members

The Montgomery County Beekeeping Association is offering a limited number of grants for beekeepers to attend the Eastern Apicultural Society Short Course and Conference which is at Turf Valley Resort, Maryland (near Ellicott City), August 5-9, 2024.

Because the conference is in Maryland this summer, it is an especially convenient and more affordable opportunity to do a deep dive of learning about beekeeping.

EAS is a regional beekeeping educational nonprofit serving eastern US states and Canadian provinces.

  • An EAS conference is a great opportunity to learn in a wide variety of beekeeping workshops, courses, and sessions, and from fellow beekeepers you meet.
  • There is more about the EAS Short Course and Conference here.
  • A PDF of the schedule for the short course and conference is here.

Please note that as of today, registration for EAS is yet not open. It should be before long.

  • Members of MCBA (you may join MCBA as you complete the application process for a grant).
  • Beekeepers with limited experience and knowledge who want to ramp up their skills and knowledge.
  • Members who are willing to report back what they learned.

The grants will cover two days of the EAS Short Course and Conference, plus the required EAS membership fee.

With your grant, you can choose the days of the conference you attend. August 5-6 is the “Short Course”, two days of classes and workshops. August 7-9 is the Conference, with keynote talks and concurrent sessions across a suite of beekeeping topics.

To apply for a grant, please complete the Google Form here. You may, as needed, return to the form to complete or refine your answers, until the grants application deadline, which is May 15, 2024.

Grants will be awarded on June 1, 2024.

Feel free to contact one of us on the Selection Committee (email John at jbmahaffie@gmail.com) if you have questions.
