How to Whitelist MCBA

It is important to tell your email service that messages from the MCBA Club and the MCBA Forum should not be marked as Spam or Junk mail. Otherwise you may miss an important or interesting message. This process is called "whitelisting." Some services call their whitelist a "safe sender list."

Every email service has a different way of whitelisting incoming messages. This page has whitelisting instructions for each of the major email services. In many cases, adding our email addresses to your address book (or Contacts) is sufficient, but it must be done on the web site of your email provider. This is not the same thing as adding the email address to the address book on your desktop, laptop, tablet or smart phone. For best results, log in to the web site of your email service provider.

Please Note: It is not possible to keep all messages from MCBA out of your Spam/Junk folders. You need to periodically look in those folders to check for messages that have been incorrectly marked as such. Every email service has some number of false positives. If you do not check your Junk folder you will miss something important. If you delete the messages in your Junk folder without reviewing them, you will lose important messages. Experts suggest checking your Junk folder every day.

You should whitelist 3 email addresses to let your email provider know you want MCBA messages to appear in your Inbox:

Swarms@mcba-forum.groups.io
wordpress@montgomerycountybeekeepers.com

Click on the name of your provider for specific instructions to whitelist the above 4 email addresses:

After you make the change appropriate to your mail service, check your Junk/Spam folder daily to see whether our messages are still ending up in that folder.

If our messages still end up in your Junk/Spam folder, it is possible that you have, accidentally or intentionally enabled junk mail filtering in your computer, laptop, tablet or smart phone. This filtering is secondary to your email provider's filters, so you must make the above changes first. If our messages are still junked, you can try fixing settings or adding exceptions for our addresses in your email reader. One of the following articles may be helpful:

If you are still missing messages from us, look in some of the special folders that are set up on different email services. The best place to look is a folder named All Mail . Some email services will move messages from mailing lists into special folders called Archive or Categories/Forums or SavedMail.

Finally, if all else fails, contact us via our support page: Help Me! . Choose MCBA's FORUM as the option. Please be aware that we have very limited support staff hours so it might be a couple of days before someone responds. Please contact us only if you believe the problem is systemic. We don't have the resources to teach everyone in MCBA how to use email.
